French Level Up Launches B2 Preparation for French Citizenship Applicants
From everyday French to exam-ready: experienced coach Yann Le Bouhellec offers a personalised path to B2, starting with a one-hour assessment
French Level Up, the online French coaching practice founded by Yann Le Bouhellec, is launching a new B2 exam preparation programme for English-speaking professionals seeking French citizenship. It combines an initial assessment with a personalised preparation plan, helping candidates identify what needs work before committing to an exam date.
Before becoming a French coach, Yann Le Bouhellec spent 18 years in the humanitarian sector, working in English. Early in that career, he could write reports and defend budgets on paper, yet sometimes stayed quiet in meetings because he was still forming a sentence when the discussion moved on.
“Getting through a working day in French and being ready for a B2 exam are not the same thing,” said Yann Le Bouhellec. “Someone may handle meetings, appointments and the school run, yet struggle to build an argument on an unfamiliar topic under time pressure. The starting point is to find that gap, rather than assume that every part of their French needs more work.”
The programme begins with the Bilan B2, a one-to-one online assessment providing estimated scores across listening, reading, writing and speaking, alongside guidance on exam choice and preparation timing. Candidates receive a written debrief and personalised study plan six hours after the session; the assessment is a coaching tool, not an official language certificate.
Follow-on options include individual coaching and Objectif B2, an eight-week preparation programme for the DELF B2 or TCF, limited to four participants. Individual sessions are available, while dates for the next small-group programme have not yet been announced.
“The most useful question is not which exam is easiest,” Yann Le Bouhellec added. “It is what the candidate can do now, what still needs work and how much preparation can realistically fit around a job and family. A study plan should answer those questions before an exam date becomes another source of pressure.”
Yann Le Bouhellec began coaching French in 2022. French Level Up reports that he has since delivered approximately 7,500 hours of coaching to more than 460 students, with over 80 five-star reviews.
Assessment bookings and further details are available on the Bilan B2 assessment page.
